SOFA: Source of Furniture & Accessories is bringing Liza Hausman, Vice-President of Houzz, the world's largest database of home renovation and decoration to their location at the International Centre in Mississauga to present results on a study on the perspective of homeowners. The study found that more than half of homeowners would rather renovate their homes than buy a new car or go on vacation, and found that nearly three-quarters of Canadian homeowners intend to redecorate or remodel in the next two years. Areas of the home most often cited include floors, kitchens and bathrooms. Canadians appear to be making lifestyle investments to improve their own domestic experience rather than remodelling to increase their homes' value.

Hausman will present details from the study, including how much homeowners intend to spend and hire to carry out their remodelling work. This is seen as a game-changing point in the industry, which is so often dependent on referrals. Over 7500 Canadian designers use Houzz as a method of reaching customers and the site has a worldwide draw of 130,000. Houzz receives 1.5 million website views per month after its Canadian launch last year.

Houzz is the largest residential interior design database in the world, with over 800,000 images, and millions of idea books accessible online or Houzzmobile apps. According to Linda Kafka, SOFA's Director of Marketing, "SOFA and Houzz are aligned in that both foster a sense of community within the broader design industry, helping professionals to connect, collaborate and communicate with clients - all under one roof". SOFA has over 30 showrooms in Canada and is a resource for design, decoration and building industries.

The event takes place on Thursday, November 29 from 1 to 3pm at SOFA, 6900 Airport Road in Mississauga.
