A punctuation mark of glass and steel, Shangri-La has provided University Avenue with a view terminus that anchors the southern stretch of the street with a substantial architectural work. Befitting the luxury of the brand housed within, the materials employed in the building's construction are suitably decadent, communicating the exclusivity of the hotel experience inside. Echoing the openess and animation of Diamond Schmitt's Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts across the street and the crispness and rigour of John B. Parkin's office building at 200 University Avenue, architect James ChengHariri Pontarini Architects have successfully sourced the street for a project that is contextually relevant, lively and monumental.
