Sourced by Forum member CanadianNational, today's image brings us back to Toronto's not-so-distant past. With the notable absence of Scotia Plaza and Brookfield Place, many of the signature commercial buildings in the heart of the city have already been constructed. Where the most dramatic change is set to occur, however, is in the lands to the south and west of the financial core. With the deindustrialization of the waterfront and the resurrection of commercial and residential uses on the rail lands, the void left by the retreat of industry has been quickly filled. As development reaches the derelict lands surrounding the Distillery District, we can finally complete the process begun decades ago and connect all the fragments of our waterfront together.
