Developed by The Onni Group and designed by Wallman Architects, Garrison at the Yards is neatly inserting itself into a tight site at the intersection of Fort York Blvd. and Bathurst St. Having been over a year since we last published a construction update, there has been a great deal of progress made on the project. Thanks to our active Forum members, we have some excellent images to share with you. The first two captured at the corner of Fort York Blvd. and Bathurst St. show the defining design detail of the development, the vertical strips of brick that form an exoskeleton of sorts. Found only the north and east sides of the building, the slim west side and the south façade exclusively feature glass and metal cladding. Important, too, is the inclusion of retail space at the base of the development, something that is sorely needed given the deficit of commercial space in this rapidly growing neighbourhood.

Now we turn to the interior of the 12-storey building. Since finishing work has yet to commence on the suites, below are renderings that provide a glimpse of what the project will look like when completed. Design work for the common spaces and 248 units of the development has been awarded to II by IV Design Associates. By favouring a palate and choice of materials that are rich and varied but also retrained, the firm avoids the heavy reliance on ephemeral contemporary trends that can rapidly date a project as it ages.

Finally, below is a rendering of what the project will look like when completed. Construction is expected to wrap up by the end of year.
