Captured by Forum member anonymous0024, this photo shows the new Bridgepoint Hospital moving ever closer to completion. Designed by Diamond + Schmitt Architects, the new 10-storey building includes 680 000 sq. feet of space dedicated to a variety of both in- and out-patient needs. The $200 million project also includes the restoration and repurposing of the historic Don Jail into a centre for the hospital's administrative and support services. Unfortunately the building's mid-century predecessor, visible to the left of the new structure, will not be preserved as part of the new complex. Although the loss of the Old Riverdale Hospital is an unfortunate byproduct of this modernization, the fine quality and clear modernist lineage of the new building makes it a worthy successor.
