A quick update in regards to X2, the "sister" tower to the wildly popular X Condominiums at Charles Street East and Jarvis. Excavation has been well underway for a few months now, and recent reports from Forum members indicate the crane will be arriving this Saturday (March 10). To prepare the site, cement has been arriving by the truckload over the past few weeks to create a stable base, and lucky for us UrbanToronto Forum members cruzin4u and Atlantis have been on-site to record the process.

The image above shows the the site as of March 4, with the crane base clearly visible. Below is the site as of November 1 — it seems as though the last few levels of underground parking took quite a while in order to excavate all seven levels.

I always enjoy seeing the type of images where you get a clear contrast of architectural styles, such as the one below from November 1. While there's still a white to go before X2 is complete, its juxtaposition with the low rise apartment tower to its south, and the sprawling Rogers offices to its east, will make for quite the interesting intersection.

Upon completion the tower will reach 49 storeys, with a total of 557 units, five storeys higher than its northern neighbour. The project is a joint development between Lifetime and Great Gulf, with designs by Wallman Architects and interiors by Cecconi Simone.
