A new (well, sort of new) project is coming to Charles Street East, and we’ve received a rendering that is sure to spark your interest as well as some conversation. Cresford Developments is preparing to launch Casa II condos at 42 Charles Street East, and are clearly hoping to revive the enthusiasm they saw on their popular Casa project, located almost directly across the street. Cresford has re-enlisted architectsAlliance to design their new 57-storey condominium project and the rendering below shows an updated design that simultaneously maintains a clear relationship with the original project.

Casa II project rendering

The new tower will be 12 storeys taller than the previous one, and has a few design modifications as well: the podium has been simplified and refined, with added greenery in front. The tower component appears to be slightly more rectangular with a shortened façade on Charles Street (however this could just be due to perspective in the renderings). The most dramatic change is the roof — the standout overhang on Casa has been removed, and substituted for a mechanical floor decorated with gold spotlights.

All this is, of course, is assumed from the rendering — without clarification from Cresford we're very much in the dark about the project. With the success of Casa we can assume Casa II will be just as popular, sure to offer multi-functional floor plans that will capitalize on the dramatic views of downtown, Yorkville and North Toronto. We're looking forward to hearing more about Casa II and will keep you updated as we receive renderings; in the meantime, check out what forum members are saying here.
