Just a brief stoll from their stomping ground in Bloor West Village, developers Terra Firma are gearing up to push forward with their new project: Volta Lofts at 588 Annette Street near Runnymede.

Facade of Volta Lofts and Streetscape

The lofts, so-named after Alessandro Volta, inventor of the electric battery, feature an exciting blend of traditional and modernist architecture. Its facade combines limestone and heritage brick with tall panels of glass along the terraces, so while retail spaces on the ground level weave seamlessly with the red brick architectural mode of the neighbourhood, the residences above engage the eye with their spin on Bauhaus-era design.

Locals of the neighbourhood may also be pleased that Volta Lofts is taking over the site of the TTC's Beresford Substation, but retaining some of its iconic artifacts in the lobby for display.
