Plans are in the works to build a new head office for the Globe and Mail. The plan is for a 6-7 storey building to be located at the corner of Front and Spadina where currently a Toyota dealership exists. The architects for the project will be KPMB Architects. No doubt the plan will be to redevelop the current office space into new condos. Here, in this photo by UrbanToronto forum 400WellingtonGuy, we see core samples being taken yesterday on site.

The Thomson family own the newspaper and the land and will most likely be developing the project themselves. Here's a look at the land in question including the auto dealership and the Globe and Mail property.

Certainly a good way for them to monetize land that is currently underutilized.
