The expansion of The MaRS Centre's western wing has resumed with the placement of its first tower crane, seen below left. Alexandria Real Estate Equities halted development during the financial crisis of 2008. The construction stopped at the ground floor and has been mothballed for 3 years, until today.
The province has guaranteed funding for the expansion and now it is scheduled to be completed in September of 2013. The 20-storey building will soon block the view of Burano and Murano from this vantage point at 700 University.
Below is a scale model and rendering of the MaRS Centre and its Queens Park area surroundings.
UrbanToronto's dataBase entry for the MaRS Centre has many more renderings to look at, and more information about the project to consider. Click the link below to see it, or visit the Projects and Construction thread for MaRS to join in the discussion.
