Downtown Oakville is about to see a development that screams 60's pop-art nostalgia.
Neilas' OpArt Lofts, Oakville's first loft residence, is set to reshape how "postmodern" Oakville's built form can be. The 10-storey, two-tower, retail-at-grade development is designed with the 1960's OpArt Movement in mind, flawlessly mixing stark white exteriors with seemingly random arrays of glass and black mullions. To say the least, OpArt is a work of genius.
Best known for Toronto's Cube Lofts in Little Italy, Neilas aims to offer 188 modern loft residences to Oakvillers, with 10-foot ceilings, convenient and relaxing amenities, and sophisticated interior design. Designed by Stephen Teeple of Teeple Architects, with interiors by Cecconi Simone, the structure is rooted by a two-storey podium, with two loft towers rising a further eight-storeys on top. Judged by these renderings, OpArt is a likely contender for UrbanToronto's favourite development west of Mississauga!
OpArt will be located in the heart of the rapidly-redeveloping Kerr Village near the city center, just a stone's throw away from Oakville GO Train station. Additionally, countless shops, restaurants and amenities are located nearby, with more on their way -- as the city invests in new ventures in urban design and growth. Another new condo project, Rain, by Empire Communities, will rise immediately south of OpArt.
