Here's a small new project that caught our attention for the first time today. Its the new Living Life on the Avenue retirement home. Located at 1066 Avenue Road, the 8 storey project was developed by the Living Life Group.

Here we see the north side.

And here we see the east side facing Avenue.

The sloped roof and windows mimic the former church that was located here. That makes the design somewhat interesting. What is more interesting is the church in question was the former St James Bond United Church.

Ian Fleming, who created British agent James Bond, lived in the area during WWII when he was stationed at Camp X in Whitby. Camp X is where he trained to be a spy. Rumour is this church was the inspiration for the name James Bond. If true it is a shame that some part of that history couldn't have been saved somehow.
