UrbanToronto member Androiduk has captured our first look at the restored brick and limestone building at the base of Burano, the 48-storey condominium tower by Lanterra Developments under construction on Bay north of College. Under wraps for months now, the 1925-built McLaughlin Motors building was disassembled, had its bricks and stone cleaned, and then was reassembled on a new concrete framework once Burano's garage was completed below it. Our first look shows the promise that the two-storey building holds as a podium for the modern tower above. Ground floor retail interiors here will hopefully live up to the elegant precedent being set by this project's restored facade.

The south end of the building, when complete, should look something like this... but not so blurry we hope!
