Queen West between Spadina and Bathurst is currently home to a couple of projects of interest to UrbanToronto. One of those, Duke's Cycle, based on the rendering and the construction shots so far, promises to be despicably ugly. The other, Queen & Portland Lofts and Condos by Tribute Communities and RioCan - which will also be home to half a dozen retailers - is looking better and better as construction progresses. UrbanToronto members Frank_R and BobBob have shot the building recently to update us.

The Turner Fleischer Architects-designed complex consists of three double-height retail floors starting at ground level, which form the podium for another four floors of residential units above. Here's what it will look like when complete later this year.

The rooftop of the podium will provide outdoor amenity space for the condominium residents.

Retailers coming to the complex include a Loblaws gorcery store, Winners fashions, Joe Fresh fashions, a Bank of Montreal, and Teaopia. One street level retail space remains to be let.
