Fire has finally done what neglect couldn't do to 335 Yonge Street. The 19th century building, that once held the Edison Hotel, partially collapsed last April 16th. Now fire has finished it off. The building, which the owners the Lalani Group wanted to demolish, was designated a heritage site by the city back in the summer

The building had no gas or electrical connections so the fire might have been caused by homeless squatters that seemed to be living in the building. Or the cause could be something more sinister. It certainly is convenient that a building the city was going to force the owner to fix should all of a sudden burn down. The Fire Marshall has not discounted any cause at this point.
