There's a new proposal for student housing that's sure to cause a lot of controversy. The University of Toronto has announced a private sector partner, Knightstone Capital Management, for a 30-40 storey building at 245-253 College Street. Located at the south side of College just east of Spadina, it will tower over a mostly low-rise neighbourhood. And that will cause controversy as people question the appropriatness of something so tall here. Designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects, the $120 million project will house upwards of 1400 students. Here are three renderings of the proposed tower.

While we at UrbanToronto really like the design, we are divided over whether it is too tall for its surroundings. What do you think?
