The Florian is a 25-storey condominium being developed by Diamante Corporation on Davenport Avenue at the top of Bay Street. Designed by Young + Wright / IBI Group Architects and Hariri Pontarini Architects, the building features a four-storey podium that sweeps along with Davenport Avenue's curve. Now close to 20-storeys tall, UrbanToronto members have been eagerly awaiting the first cladding which will give clues to the project's final look. While there are still no windows to consider, there now is brick on Florian's lower floors. First photographed for UrbanToronto by member Bentley in December (see at bottom), the brick at first looked like it was the colour of the slate-black brick showing up at several recent projects in Toronto, such as the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. Recently UrbanToronto photographed the building in Toronto's famously warm late afternoon January sun, and it looks much purpler than it does when out of the sunlight. Have a look:
