Massive change is set to take place on Yonge Street north of Steeles as the LEED Silver rated World On Yonge comes to the Markham side of Thornhill. Liberty Development Corporation is bringing retail, a 19 storey office/hotel combo and four condo towers rising to 31 storeys to a former strip mall at Yonge and Meadowview. Ground breaking for the Kirkor Architects designed project just took place and the mall is coming down. The first phase is now underway with the second phase, which faces Meadowview and Doncaster, awaiting expansion of the Yonge Subway north to Steeles. We think this is a giant step forward. Hopefully Yonge Street south of here to Finch will also be redeveloped like this. The mall comes down.
