UrbanToronto member achender captured these images of demolition that is now underway on the ancillary buildings at the Canada Malting site at the west end of Toronto's Harbour. The former grain silos site has been siting vacant for over a decade now while its future remains the subject of debate. The vacancy and neglect has resulted in deterioration of the complex to the point that the buildings are unsafe, forcing the city to act.

While the ancillary buildings are being demolished, the landmark silos themselves will be restored and protected from the weather pending future reuse of some sort. The site had been promoted as the location for a Canadian Music Hall of Fame and home for the country's music industry, but sufficient financial backing did not materialize. Other suggestions have included a site for a beer museum, an aquarium, the City of Toronto Museum, and an art gallery.
