Family-owned American developer The Cordish Companies is teaming up with the Woodbine Entertainment Group to transform the undeveloped land around the Woodbine Race Track in northern Etobicoke into a destination for entertainment, shopping, offices, and homes called Woodbine Live! The Woodbine Live! website is extensive and worth a look to understand the massive scale of this project if all goes as the developer plans it to. The website includes maps, videos, 'precedent photos', and more renderings, but we'll give you some of those here to whet your appetite for all the render porn you could ask for.
The site is separated into several zones (no word yet on which will rise first) with the retail, restaurant, and entertainment areas clustered just to the west of the entrance to the race track. The live-work area will be closer to Rexdale Blvd. and Highway 427. Districts are pictured below:
The Broadway District
The Market District
The Live! District
The Ice Park Plaza District
The Galleria District
The Euro-Fashion District
and three images from the Live-Work District
Much more information can be gleaned from the Woodbine Live! website, while news coverage and commentary can be found in UrbanToronto's thread for Woodbine Live! in our Projects and Construction forum. While digging should start this fall, discussion is already underway.
