Toronto's MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects in conjunction with Patkau Architects of Vancouver were selected as the winners of an international design competition for the U of T Goldring Centre for High Performance Athletics. Blackwell Bowick are handling the structural design.

The $38.5 Million ports complex will house research and teaching labs, a strength and conditioning centre, a state-of-the-art sport medicine clinic, a below grade 2000-seat NCAA basketball arena, and a volleyball field house. An athletics facility, gym and classroom space are piled on top. The centre will host futsal and other court related sports as part of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games. Design development and programming are commencing now, with anticipated project completion in 2013. The complex will sit across Devonshire Place from Varsity Stadium, and will take the place of a daycare and surface parking lot current on the site.
