it's better to destroy something cheap rather then something expensive

My best engneering professors used to tell us sophistication is a trap. Very often the best solutions are the simplest. There is nothing wrong with low tech that works.

Not arguing with that either, just wanted to clear up any confusion.

Occam's Razor is very applicable here in that the simpler explanations are often more effective than the complex (and convoluted) explanations.

Vince Carter's old coach used to tell him 2 points is always 2 points no matter how you score.

Vince Carter's old coach couldn't dunk.

And yet Hickam's dictum is applicable to many fields. Occam's Razor doesn't do much to describe the probability of the simpler explanation.

I happen to agree with you, I just feel Occam's Razor is overused.

Alos of note Brad Ross was asked on Twitter the other day about when Downsview station would be remained and he said in May. I would presume they would need to doi as part of the testing of the line to make sure the trains make all the correct announcements at the right points.
Looks like the renaming will be on May 7 according to the ACAT minutes at the next TTC meeting.

We have updated our dataBase to reflect that Stevens Group Architects / IBI Group Architects has been folded into IBI Group. Though this project originally involved Stevens Group Architects / IBI Group Architects, the dataBase file now shows IBI Group.

Being Finnish, I've been following the subway expansion in Helsinki as well as TYSSE, and I can't help but notice that one of their new metro station platform areas strongly (IMO) resembles the platform area at VMC.

The similarities are striking. The black ceiling, grey walls (on the platform), and most of all the big circular lights hanging from the ceiling. The architecture firm responsible for VMC is Grimshaw, while the firm that designed Koivusaari is Helin & Co. Wonder who copied who...

Ps. Sorry to get OT, but Siemens had a major contract to make Helsinki's metro driverless with the opening of this new line, but their complete ineptitude lead to the contract having to be cancelled. I understand the same thing happened with one line in Nürnberg, Germany.

The art in the new stations is definitely something:

It really is! I can't wait to see this line (and TYSSE) once they open. Finnish design is very different, after all, Toronto City Hall (designed by Viljo Revell) was very controversial at the time, but then became the symbol of the City of Toronto.

EDIT: As much resemblance as VMC does bear to Koivusaari, even if one firm copied the other - both stations are absolutely beautiful.

I need to add this too, even the entrance building to Koivusaari somewhat resembles that of VMC (ie. the wave).
