"I don't agree with equating driving a vehicle, which is inherently risky, to fighting crime, which I would classify more as a noble sacrifice. That is like saying if you drive a car you are making a comparable judgment call to smoking cigarettes, based on risk alone; clearly, they are quite different in nature. There are other factors at play than just the inherent risk, and frankly, I find your comparison offensive."

"You think that's bad? The Toronto Police Service over 80% of expenses go to staff and salaries!"

"Police put their lives on the line for the citizens of Toronto every day. Our focus is the TTC thank you for your support."

    Rob Ford, is that you?

The piece they put out is so shockingly badly done, that one must conclude that those behind it have a huge anti-transit agenda, or are simply extremely unintelligent.

Given how they react to feedback though, and just how anti-TTC it is, I can only assume that there is an agenda here.

Nevertheless, it is still shocking that TTC operators make $44.5 per hour on average.
In my field, many holding Master's, PhDs, CFA or CGA don't make that much. From the chart, almost three quarters expenses are from wages, which confirms my belief that TTC's budget problem mostly comes from their exorbitant salaries. I am afraid transit workers elsewhere, in NYC or Chicago or Montreal, don't make that much money.

According to wikipedia, average MTA workers make $52K a year, or about $26/h. This is more in line with what is reasonable
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_New_York_City_transit_strike

    Bus or Subway Operator US$63,000
    Subway Conductor US$54,000
    Station Agent US$51,000
    Cleaner US$40,000
    Average MTA Worker US$52,000

At $28.64 an hour, the top wage rate for Chicago Transit Authority bus drivers ranks third-highest among U.S. transit agencies, according to an analysis conducted for the Tribune.

CTA bus drivers trail only their counterparts at two transit agencies operating on opposite coasts. The top hourly salary for bus drivers at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority in Boston leads the industry, at $30.18; while the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority in San Jose, Calif., pays bus operators with the most seniority $28.86 an hour, according to John A. Dash & Associates, a transit research firm in Havertown, Pa.

They don't. How could anyone think something so absurd? The top operator wage rate is $29.05 an hour. How is this any different than the numbers you quote ($28.64 to $30.18 an hour).

Why would you repeat such bizarre drivel?

exactly. i know these people. i grew up with them. they are spoiled rich kids with an anti-socialist agenda who don't know anything about the social sciences. i was at a birthday party of one of the people who runs TTC Facts, and it consisted of, like 25 guys in a fancy hotel room. there was one girl, and she was with her boyfriend. that tells you something about their role in society. lmao.

The PDF file lists the author is listed as Marty Kravshik. Though later on they sign it as Josh and Michael. Seems a bit confusing who wrote it ...

Marty Kravshik is the father of my ex-friend Michael Kravshik, who I am not longer in contact with, despite being quite close in high school and university. Really strange guy.

That you judge people in such a fashion says a lot about you too.

Then there's no point bring your dispute to UT. What's the point of this thread?

I'd assume that the point of the thread is how horrendously wrong and biased the document is. And any attempt to discuss how wrong it is with the authors just get's shot down, rather than discussed - and matches my own communications with the authors.

well, i for one, am tired of things like this happening.

have you noticed by chance that there is a revolution going on worldwide, spurred on by the evolution of the internet - our collective mind? read some julian huxley quotes, and brave new world by his brother aldous as well.

we are on the brink of a brave new world, and a lot of people simply do not want that. look at syria, libya, iran, afghanistan, the united states, europe. people are determined to prevent their exploitation. someone i know (an IT specialist) is going to be replaced by a supercomputer soon. he might lose his mortgage.

kubrick's 2001: a space odyssey, orwell's 1984, and brave new world are NOT supposed to be non-fiction manuals.

have you noticed how misguided most people are nowadays? and not to mention the nuclear weapons thing. we are retarded if we let this go on for much longer and stay apathetic, and tell ourselves that we cannot change things. things must change.

sorry, it just really pisses me off, and a lot of others, so that is why what is happening worldwide is happening. there is a reason. it isn't just for fun.
