Toronto ZIGG Condos | 42.97m | 11s | Madison Group | Kirkor Architects

All main streets in the city (and St. Clair is definitely a main street) should not allow residential units on the main floor. It should always be retail, commercial, cultural or some community related use. I'm opposed to ground floor residential on any main street. The problem with the burbs is that they lined streets like Finch with back years of houses, with high fences blocking out the view. What a terrible way to develop a main street! I hate walking in those areas and so does everybody else because you see few people walking there. I can't wait to see those main streets in North York and Scarborough, get lined with 8 story mid-rises, that have nice tall retail spaces along the sidewalk. Tear out all those ugly strip malls while were at it.

It's a simple concept used in great cities the world over and yet, Toronto still allows developers to build anti-urban developments, like townhouses on Finch. (right near a subway too) The city seems to put so little thought into these matters sometimes.

The house on the right that would be demolished here is actually really nice.

Not trying to start any heritage debates here, it's just an observation.

Let's hope they don't build one next door called Zagg.

Actually tbh that would make this stupid name worthwhile. Maybe I just like really corny humour but I'd find the idea of Zigg and Zagg condos being beside one another hilarious. Stupid, but hilarious.

It's interesting that Madison and Fieldgate went with: 'Choose Creativity Over Conformity' as the building's tagline when they evidently prefer the pedestrian dreck that garbage firms like Kirkor are able to pump out at astonishing rates.

Stopped by the presentation centre over the weekend:
