Located northeast of 16th Avenue and Yonge Street, the proposal will replace one of the first Harveys in Toronto across from Hillcrest Mall ~

The project will be called Xpression by Zancor Homes. The site was previously owned by Chestnut Hill Homes.

Original Harvey’s restaurant demolished to make way for condos

Jesse Mirsky Mar 13, 2012 – 8:52 AM ET

Interesting bit of history about this location:

There are more than 250 Harvey’s restaurants in Canada, but back in 1959 there was only one, at the corner of Observatory Lane and Yonge Street in Richmond Hill.

That intersection, and the surrounding neighbourhood, has changed dramatically in the years since, but until this past week the Harvey’s name was a constant.

No more.

On Friday, a construction crew worked with a crane to uproot the building’s foundation, preparing to remake the site into the home of two 15-storey condominiums. The towers will include approximately 450 suites, as well as ground-floor retail. A new Harvey’s location will open this year a short distance south, at Yonge and Highway 7.

Another Harvey's bites the dust? Wasn't the Harvey's where One Bedford is the original Harvey's, or was that the first in the City of Toronto?

nope .... the Harveys @ Yonge & Observatory Lane in RH was the first location ~

Wish they had made a bigger deal of it! I would have liked to visit the original Harvey's before they demolished it. Too late...
