why so quiet?

the pic looks the same as the pic from feb 9.

no progress!

Final definitive contracts between the developers and the general contractor need to be in place before construction starts. Would you expect otherwise...?

I would like to see some progress as well.

This isn't unusual for Concord Adex. Many of their projects have gone through excavation quickly and then sat waiting for actual construction to begin. I suspect that they are waiting for Newton and FWD to reach a level of completion before moving onto these buildings.

This may or may not be the case.

My understanding is that the there will be two separate construction management responsibilities - one for the residential towers and the retail area under the Gardiner Expressway (Concord Adex), and one for the main heritage building retail and office complex (some mix of the Loblaws / Choice Properties / Whittington organizations). Hopefully, the two groups are coordinating their efforts in selecting and negotiating with a single general contractor. Given the touch points between the two components of the development, and ongoing construction site coordination issues, having two GC's on the project, while not impossible, could certainly complicate the overall construction project.

Signs of activity at West Block - new equipment has arrived on the site, along with various personnel, and a new and more robust perimeter security fence being installed along the Bathurst Street frontage. Looks like the General Contractor (which one of the workers on site said is Ellis Don) is in the process of gearing up, and has taken over responsibility for the property.

And the signs on the fence (at least some of them) are now up: Ellis Don and Concord. Not shown, the excavator shown in the hole in the previous post was busy late Thursday afternoon, digging out the sump pits for the new buildings.

Concord Pacific would have found a way to make a water feature out of it.
