I just noticed them ripping up platforms (Track 8 and 9 I think?) near the expansion joints.

Trying to waterproof the leaky York teamway I think? (One may be tempted to say, 'Good luck!')
Bay West Teamway needs it bad too.

Waterproofing? They should look at the ceiling of the new Bay Concourse to see a job well (not) done - at least 10% of the panels are already in a damaged state.

It does look in terrible shape, the last I peeked through the Bay Teamways and tried to peek upwards.
If York looked like that before it got clad...
...oh, wait.

Yes, York's ceiling looks tattered already.
Hope they apply lessons towards the Bay side.

I've been waiting for a big Union update for a while now, as it's one of my most anticipated projects. Thanks a lot for posting this.

I'm happy to see all the work getting done, but I'm getting impatient. It's been a long time. I really want to see it wrapped up.

Grant you, it should be appreciated that Union has come a long way over the past few years.

• The new glass roof and restoration of some of the existing shed
• A new rail platform (26/27)
• A second subway platform and revitalization of the upstairs TTC fare area
• New and improved PATH connections
• 3 new concourses (Bay South, York South and York proper)
• Preparation and closure of the Bay proper concourse
• A UPX station
• Interior revitalization of the Skywalk and west wing (including new office space and a travel info centre)
• Restoration of the west and central building exterior
• Revitalization of Front Street

I'm probably forgetting a couple things but those are the big ones.

Yep, there's no question. There's a lot to celebrate here already. I'm just being impatient, and really like what I've seen so far.

FRONT STREET! And the urban plaza.

Many people still think the revitalization does not create much space...
...but wait till uninformed commuters see the massive pedestrian expressway from TTC to the brand new Bay concourse. Not to mention a whole new mall/food court that pops up out of nowhere.

Speaking of the Skywalk I thought it was closing at some point to be incorporated into a new building. Any idea when that will be happening?

Also I am actually pretty satisfied with the work that has been done up until this point. Honestly, when Derek Boles and myself did tours of Union Station a few years ago the west wing was in a sorry state of affairs. It was vacant and run down as if nobody had maintained if for quite some time. The balconies above the Great Hall on the north side were literally falling to pieces. The ceilings had caved in in some sections. At least now they ha are being restored.

What was empty offices for Ontario Northland is now Ontario Tourism amongst other things. What was the York Pioneer Restaurant and the Maple Leaf Lounge are now the VIA business lounge. The former Ontario Northland offices were a waste of space for years so it is good to see the space being put to good use.

The original Union Station was built between 1914 - 1920. In 1921, Toronto had a population of 521,893. In 2011, Toronto had a population of 2,615,060. Has the revitalization of Union Station able to handle over 3,000,000, plus the 905?

I'd guess that they are standing roughly where the new Union Pearson platform is.
