Toronto Jack Layton Ferry Terminal and Harbour Square Park | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Good to see "Phase 1A" extended to at least reach the ticket booths. The original plan barely put a dent in redeveloping the terminal. The new plan is at least something of substance to show.

Here's a look at the new entrance into the park:

It's a significant improvement over the current state:

However, I'm not very encouraged by Waterfront Toronto's wording about the Ferry Terminal itself as something that will "eventually be built".

This is really cool! Those aren't totem poles @AlvinofDiaspar. They're periscopes!

You're on Queens Quay and you can look into the glass to see the ferry boats way down on the water!

That's pretty neat! Let's hope the trees don't end up blocking the view in a couple years time though...

I missed it in the name. Looks like they'll be pointed and zoomed at the island itself. Makes sense since that's where one who is looking for a ferry wants to go.

Though if the trees growing this vigourously might be a very good thing indeed. On another note - one can only wonder what would be the outcome if Claude Cormier got his hands on the landscape design portion of this project.

...and/or if they undertook the whole (badly needed) project in a fully-funded, non-piecemeal fashion.

It's too bad they couldn't foresee the flooding of the island. Would've given them a chance to start the project early without worrying about cutting into the busy season.

The construction should start later this fall.
And phase 2 works will begin when phase 1 is completed.
The first phase should be finished by summer 2018.
:)

Phase 2 isn't currently funded so, unless something changes, it will not commence with the completion of phase 1.
