Quebec City currently has a very large building proposed out on a suburban arterial road, 261m to the roof, 288 to the pinnacle. It's sort of dubious if it will get built or not though.
 
I believe that Hullmark may be the tallest non core or suburban building in Canada at present. It will soon be surpassed by E Condos, which will hold the title for a short period of time, until it is in turn surpassed by Eau de Soleil. AFAIK, that will then be the tallest for a period of uncertain duration whether or not Le Phare de Quebec is built.
 
The terraced base is interesting. It looks like something one would expect in Miami or Vegas- perhaps has a sort of a resort hotel appearance. The tallest building outside of a downtown is Absolute ;)
 
Good correction. I shouldn't have forgotten the wave of construction in Burnaby since I drove through it the other day and noted the towers going up. Just one small note: At about 187 m., Solo Altus, Burnaby, will be a hair and a half taller - less than a metre difference, I think - than Brentwood, according to SSP. It is very near topping out so presumably it will be the tallest in this category for a year or so until E condos are completed. The other correction, by Bogtotter, is also justified. The tallest at present is Absolute.

But IC 42 said the thing that relates to this thread: Kotsy is correct that Eau de Soleil will be the tallest non core structure when completed.

And it's happening at the complete wrong end of the city. This would be something that one would expect out of an area such as North York Centre, or Midtown Toronto. But around Humber Bay Park? It goes to show what's wrong with planning in this city and province.
 
I have no particular comment about what should or should not go up at North York Centre or Midtown, but I cannot see why there should not be a very tall structure on Humber Bay. I would prefer to see the row of high rise condos along the shore come to a definite peak.
 
An insanely tall tower here is less damaging than a crazy tall tower in an older, more established part of the city. Let the heighters have their fun here.

It makes for a striking view from the lake, downtown and the 427. City planning wise... I don't know. Maybe it makes no sense, but skyline wise, it is very appropriately located.

It only makes no sense from a transit planning perspective I feel. But that isn't a Eau du Soleil problem, that is a Humber Bay Shores problem.
