Removing that central plaza is very short sighted and a lost opportunity. In turn if executed properly it could become just as big as Dundas square in terms of impact and draw (not so much the whole advertising and Times Square light).

I think they're trying to rush the Amazon HQ2 proposal - but not going to excuse this change here.

I dunno, I never really liked its placement -- it was to be surrounded by roads, including one that stands to be quite busy (and remember that FG is fighting the City on making Broadview a complete street), and they've not done away with public space entirely; they've just reorganized things in the site plan. Wow, wtf. Completely missed the removal of the central plaza. I agree it is short-sighted.

But it coincided with Enbridge's facility being removed from the OPA / study area, and it was envisioned to be green space anyway. So aren't the changes a huge gouging of large, contiguous public space with both changes taken together? And if they are going to be re-routing pipes to a new station, doesn't that free up 405 again? Why is it being removed?

The whole situation is very confusing and frustrating.

The OMA East Harbour Master Plan included lands First Gulf didn't own to start off with. Removal of the central plaza is one thing, how the remainder of the green space got scattered as an afterthought is a total bummer - I am not sure how dumping it to the SE corner adds anything other than buffer space for transitioning down the built form. Also the updated proposal basically ate into space available for the intermodal station.

In any case, I am sure we haven't heard the last of these plans.

Meh. Not very inspiring for the ask they are going for. The perimeter parkland other than the unavoidable Don River facing side is weak and creates a notion of a "compound" development.
