They are not messing around. Every station going up (down?) in mid-town is a total beehive of activity. Good to see solid progress. Only 4 more years, girls and boys!

Buildings nearby have been given notice that the Eglinton Station to Yonge-Eglinton Centre tunnel will be closed September 7th. It will be effectively closed until the LRT opening.

Later in September, the tunnel to CIBC (correction: tunnel will close in 2018) as well as the NS crossing on the west side and the WE crossing on the south side will be closed. Only way to get from Eglinton station to Y-E Centre will be to take crosswalk south of Eglinton to cross Yonge (south TTC entrance to Starbucks), walk north, then cross twice at the intersection to get to the NW corner!

Wow. That's gonna be a HUGE inconvenience. There are significant traffic flows through that station/Y-E Centre tunnel. The food court and other businesses in that basement level will also likely see an impact on customers. Also, you can count on jaywalking if they don't block it off effectively enough.

Update:
Buddy working for Metrolinx handing out leaflets said tunnel will now close next Monday (the 18th)

Farewell tunnel!

Wow, crazy to see that step! Used to walk through that tunnel at least twice a day to get to my apartment. Exciting times wayyyyy ahead!
