Toronto Crosstown LRT: Eglinton Station | ?m | 1s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Old bus bays almost gone:

The chaos at Y&E continues. Pedestrians no longer able to walk N-S on the East side. E-W crossing on north side temporarily moved further north. I think this arrangement is dangerous and have e-mailed Metrolinx (I wouldn't forgive myself if someone got hurt and I said nothing). As of right now you can still cross E-W on the south side but in May that is expected to end as well!

The traffic lane ballet continues.
Work is shifting to the south side of Eglinton. Temporary (and dangerous) W-E crossing on the north side has closed, replaced with original crossing. N-S crossing on East side remains closed. W-E crossing on South side still open today, but looks like it will be closed too soon. N-S cross on West side remains open.

Why do they keep changing the areas cordoned off? First it was northeast, then it was northeast and south east and now its south east and west. Have they been doing work in those areas in that time?

Probably for relocation of utilities and prep for extracting the TBMS as there are still three of them located under eglinton around Young street. They could also be digging underneath the existing subway at that pint and may not want any extra weight over that area.

Update:
With tunnelling complete, and work now on to prepare for track installation, much of the construction activity for Metrolinx's Crosstown LRT has shifted towards the construction of the line's stations. Possibly the most important of these is Eglinton Station, where the LRT will connect with the existing Yonge line station of the same name in the heart of Midtown Toronto.
