Toronto Beyond The Sea | ?m | 44s | Empire | Richmond Architects

You'd think the Globe wouldn't just republish a ridiculous sales pamphlet.

Munge/Leung: Design Associates got inspiration from the ocean: The lobby will feature a saltwater aquarium with exotic sea life and coral.

I thought Beyond the Sea was cheeze, but this is a new height. The Chicago at Miami Beach, anyone?

Hey, how about a mascot

To be honest when I first saw this thread I was excited thinking that the Toronto Star was planning on some sort of face lift for their monster at the foot of Yonge.

But cool news for Etobicoke.

There is a rendering of the three towers - Star Tower, and the Beyond the Sea thing - in the Condo Guide that came out today. Nothing to write home about - but not horrible either. Perhaps there is a "South Etobicoke" style developing. ;)

On a more personal note, having been away for some time, it's odd coming back to heaps of old Condo sections from the Star and Real Estate sections from the Globe and old Condo Guides and trying to re-piece everything that's happened. You really can't take your eye off the ball.

current posted this over at SSC...44 storeys in Etobicoke!

Star Tower at Beyond the Sea - Already a glowing success, hurry for pre-construction pricing

Empire Communities’ Star Tower Condominiums is the third and final tower in one of Etobicoke’s most successful waterfront communities, Beyond the Sea. Star Tower has already attracted a wide variety of purchasers from first-time buyers to move-up purchasers, and empty-nesters, all seeking the ultimate in lakeside living, just 10 minutes from downtown. Situated on Lake Shore Boulevard West, just west of Park Lawn Road, Star Tower will be nestled between extensive new public parkland coming to the north, and on the south by the Martin Goodman Trail, a 350-kilometre trail system that winds its way locally through Humber Bay Park and past Mimico Creek. Star Tower will also offer proximity to the many shops and services along The Queensway, plus easy access to the Gardiner Expressway.

“The phenomenal success of Beyond The Sea and now Star Tower can be attributed to the outstanding value found here,†says Paul Golini Jr., Executive Vice-President, “as well as Empire Communities’ singular dedication to providing life-enhancing environments through innovative design, outstanding workmanship and a higher standard of customer care. In fact, Star Tower has proven so successful in its own right, that the awarding-winning presentation centre will close in the new year to make way for the start of construction.â€

The National Sales and Marketing Council has just announced its prestigious Silver and Regional winners for the 2008 National Awards competition, The Nationals, which honours new-home sales and marketing by homebuilders, developers, associates, and consultants. The Beyond The Sea presentation centre by munge//leung: design associates has captured Silver in the category “Best Sales Office – Urban†(www.thenationals.com), and Gold Awards will emerge from the Silver Award winners at the Nationals Gala held on February 13, 2008, in Orlando, Florida.

Star Tower’s 44-storey exceptional exterior has been designed by E.I. Richmond Architects, which has created some of the finest high-rise residential offerings in the GTA. Amenities and interiors including the striking limestone and wood paneled lobby with its saltwater aquarium housing exotic sea life and coral, and fireplace are all by international award-winning munge//leung: design associates. Residents will enjoy 24-hour concierge service, plus use of The Blue Water Club – 40,000 sq. ft. of recreational facilities located on the second floor.

Suite appointments include a spacious balcony or terrace (as per plan); engineered wood flooring; imported ceramics; 40-oz. broadloom; individually controlled heating and air conditioning; a gourmet kitchen with granite countertops, ceramic tile backsplash, and munge//leung-designed cabinetry, plus a deluxe stainless steel kitchen appliance package – brand-name 17-cu.-ft. frost-free refrigerator, self-cleaning range, built-in microwave, built-in dishwasher, and an attractive stacked washer/dryer; baths with a soaker tub or large shower (as per plan), cultured marble vanity with integrated basin, and munge//leung-designed cabinetry.

An excellent selection of suites is available that spans the gamut from one-bedroom to two-bedroom-plus-den suites, up to a gracious three-bedroom penthouse with terrace. Suites range in size from 584 to 1,594 sq. ft., and pre-construction pricing starts from the $240’s. Prices include a parking space and six appliances. Maintenance is estimated at 48 cents per square foot (hydro separate). Parking maintenance will run $35 per month per space, and locker maintenance $10 per month per space. First occupancies are slated for spring 2011. Register now for the limited collection of exclusive three-storey townhomes and podium suites coming in the new year.

... with paid-duty cops, given the scene for Phase One.

The towers are meh. They fit right in the neighbourhood, though.

Silly names. I'n now waiting for the Austin Towers, with the standard shag carpeting and pea green and tangerine orange paint job. Now that's marketing!

Also, potentially the only way to sell condos at Lawrence and Kennedy.

They should be building loads of towers of this size in Etobicoke City Centre if they ever want to seriously become the "downtown west" that they are seemingly striving to be, but there isn't anything in the pipeline for the area taller than 33 floors. Go hard or go home! The time is now for schizophrenic Etobicoke to finally mature and urbanize properly! It bugs me that it's so far behind NYCC, SCC, Yonge-Eglinton, and even MCC in terms of development.

Hmm I would argue that Etobicoke's 'downtown' is far more urban than towers in the park NYCC and MCC. You seem to forget where ECC is located; at the end of Bloor's beautiful Kingsway strip. Where there is thriving pedestrian activity, stores, cafes and chic restaurants. Etobicoke, south of Bloor to the lake is a fairly dense collection of townhouses, single houses on narrow lots and condos. Even Mimico by the lake has its share of Victoriana!

brilliant observations and humour!

Then you haven't been to NYCC where most of Yonge Street from Sheppard to Finch is very urban. And the parts that aren't will be so shortly.
