Demolition started this morning and they've been moving quickly. These images from earlier today.

More progress from today. At this rate it might all be down by the end of next week.

Not really, just walked down to check it out and nothing's actually collapsed. From the looks of it, they probably tried to take out a chunk of the upper part of the wall and some of it fell on the wrong side, knocking the scaffolding loose. A bit of the wall is still hanging towards the street, but it does look like the scaffolding did what it was designed to do, in case mishaps like this happen.

...unless of course a portion of the scaffolding did fall apart earlier and they've quickly put it back together since...

I was watching with concern this morning.... but hey, these guys know what they are doing, right?

And then I heard a crash.
Oh shit!

So a section fell on the scaffolding over the side walk. More fell over and onto the street. Someone could have been killed! A construction worker stared moving debris from the street (and was nearly struck by a car in the process). I started taking photos and was going to complain to my local councillor, but then the cops showed up.

Hopefully someone will be held to account.
