But developers are currently asking similar prices per sq. ft. for new condos with 8 ft ceilings as they would for 9 ft ceilings, that is the problem. If they were charging less then it wouldn't be as big a deal.

for similar location and quality? I doubt it.
If they do, it only means consumers are indifferent.

I do believe that having 8 ft ceiling height will affect resale prices. If you had two similar condos, one with 8 ft ceilings and the other with 9 ft ceilings, which would most people choose? I believe the 9 ft ceiling condos will ultimately start to demand a higher price at time of resale, all other things being equal.

If there were 2 identical units that had the same exact features, then yea. The 9ft one would probably be more attractive. But how much of a premium will people pay for that extra foot? What about 2 extra feet?

Also, you better believe developers are charging more for 9 footers. That extra 1 foot of space is $$$$

A common practice:
9foot or more on ground floor and 8 foot on rest, as ground floor units are harder to sell typically.

The Family Service Centre has been moving out over the last couple of days, there have been moving trucks parked in the rear lot.

This looks like its getting ready to start, and possibly just in time to make a "land bridge"of McGill street between it and 365 church across the street, depending how quickly they can get to excavation.

Yesterday evening, and the shovels have moved in:
