Long story short, last August I was in Seaforth, Ontario and happened to meet the owner of Cardno Block, a major local landmark.

The second floor has an old dancehall and theatre that is now closed to the public as it needs major repairs.

BUT - the owner let me in and I snapped a few pics.

ETA: I'm not happy with how these pics loaded, but it's my first time!

Wow, what a little treasure. There must be some use that can be put to in that town. There have got to be service clubs or social groups that would love to use that space.

I don't think it has been fully used for many years. In its current state of repair it is not "up to code" and apparently a proper renovation would cost millions. Because it is privately owned, it isn't eligible for grants etc. So its future is uncertain.

Personally, I think a gem like this deserves some loving care, and damn the cost! Its heritage value will only increase in the future and imagine the great events that could be held there! How many places like this are even left in Ontario?

Wow... I moved to the Seaforth area 2 years ago, and had read about this but never found pictures until now. (on the Urban Toronto site - ????). When I had asked the manager of the dollar store on the main floor, she had never seen it and had no idea how to even get there. What a waste..

Thanks for the discovery and those wonderful images, TOperson.
I've taken the liberty of attempting this panorama with your photos.
