Rouge Park is currently in the public engagement stage of a project to improve Rouge Beach, both ecologically and from an amenity perspective; as well as create a new trail linking the Beach to the Glen Rouge Campground (Mast Trail) are of the Park.

There are 3 different route options for the new trail; maps below:

To offer your opinion, they've decided go with having you email your thoughts:

I hope they go for option 1. The path on the picketing side and the bridge from Scarborough to pickering are both super steep so keeping it on the west makes it more easily accessible to more people. Also being more fully immersed in the marsh sounds nicer than tucked up against a cliff and peoples backyard in option 3

My instinct is to support the least harmful option ecologically.

Which I have some thoughts on; however, I wish to confirm my thoughts with experts before proffering them publicly.

Most of the above project has yet to be enacted.

But work was done in 2022 to remediate the beach/shoreline due to erosion issues:

The work was delayed by a few months.........but not for the usual reason that Toronto Hydro delayed everything, LOL Instead, it was a good reason:

There's a patch of land that's currently publicly accessible on the Toronto side, at the end of Island Road, outside of all the marshy area. There's also a way to get under the 401 from the top end of East Ave. Some pictures of that are available here: https://metroscapes.ca/walks/2022-10-02/

I think Option 1 makes the most sense, away from private property and slopes.
