I moved to Edmonton since I last posted here, but flying back for a visit tomorrow. Eager to see where this project stands right now. Will be nice to be in a big city again as well.
Here is an update on Rain while I was getting my hair cut today (photo is taken looking east towards Oakville GO). Also it looks like Empire has rebranded the second phase as "Senses".
Good heavens it's terrible. It's staggering that developers continue to hire certain firms when they continue to prove their utter incompetence job after job.
Drove past Rain tonight, and it is progressing quite well. I was able to get shots from a few vantage points.
Here is a picture of it rising into the "Oakville skyline" looking south-west from the QEW and Trafalgar:
Here is Rain seen looking south-west from the Oakville GO lot, with the Amtrak "Maple Leaf" traveling over the Sixteen-Mile Creek and into Oakville GO.
Here is the view looking south-east, with Rain facing Kerr Street.
Here is a north-east view, with Rain overlooking Kerr Street.
Here is a south-west view of Rain. Notice the heritage houses that have been preserved. In the original Rain renderings, they were to be located in front of the building facing Kerr Street. In the renderings of the second phase/tower, they are no longer present. Anyone know what is happening with them?
AFAIK, they'll be staying where they are on Shepherd Rd.
You're right, the original plan was to have them on Kerr. They look overwhelmed to me in the image below though, so Shepherd may be the better location where they aren't so jammed up against the new building.
Hay Maa!! this building looks almost the same as The Station in Toronto, but it taller and some things are different than the station. Guess someone selling the cookie cutter design at a cheap price to make some money off the Station design.
When I get to the photos I shot of the site on Wed, I will post them since there about 2,000 in front of the.
The first move in will take place in Nov.
The sale office is in a smaller office on the north side since the existing one is been torn down to make way for phase 2. Hording is going up and it will be a week or so before the shoring equipment show up.
