Former President Donald Trump's United States of America

US may no longer be as dominant as it was before, but it certainly accounted for a good portion of the world economic output. They'd survive - I am not sure if the rest of the world can afford to say the same. China could very well position itself to suck up that vacuum, but be careful what one wishes for.

From the sounds of it, Trump just guaranteed China's ascension. Killing TPP has opened the door to China offering their trade deal (RCEP), but without any laws around workers rights etc. that TPP had.

We're watching the downfall of the US. Trump only hit fast forward.

Not wishing for it, just how I see it.

And how do you think a US, which is acting the way it is partly because of insecurity over ones' own "lost" greatness ("Make America Great Again!") react if they truly gets overtaken? Won't be pretty.

Didn't want to go that hyperbolic, but WWIII is a possibility. Doomsday clock just got moved up. The threat is real. But the war's inevitable........

It will take time for his decisions to play out and the realities of what happens to seep in (to the US and him). But with his narcissism and other flaws who knows, he could think the nuke button is the button for the butler. Ooooops.....

I just don't think he'll go that far (nukes). Like I said, no one left to adore him.

Besides in his head, it will be the media's fault...and nasty women......./sarcasm off

No need to default into nuclear thinking yet!

Donald Trump Makes His First Move to End ‘An Open Internet’

In the past several weeks, Donald Trump has gone to war with the CIA, Meryl Streep, China, and the media. Now, his latest foe is none other than the internet.

New reports indicate that Trump will pick Ajit Pai to take up the role of Chairman of the FCC. Pai will be a disastrous force against a free and inexpensive internet since he’s adamantly against net neutrality.

But what is net neutrality, you ask? Net Neutrality is the idea that all web traffic, no matter from which sites, must be treated equally by internet service providers like Verizon and AT&T.

Abolishing net neutrality means that internet providers will put certain sites in “fast lanes” and “slow lanes.” Sites that pay fees to these providers will be slotted into the fast lane, while sites that can’t afford to pay will be slow to access and hard to load.

Pai will be in a position at the FCC to abolish net neutrality once and for all, with rich corporate telecom companies being the only ones who will benefit. Such a move could be very, very bad for the little guy.

“First off, the web could get more expensive,” said consumer advocate expert Harold Feld. “Websites would probably pass on to consumers the costs of paying for high-speed access.”

“It could become difficult to view certain websites owned by companies that can’t afford to pay for access to an internet fast last,” Feld continued. “Consumers may start choosing their internet providers based on which websites they like to visit.”

Trump campaigned on wanting to help the average working class American get ahead. But abolishing net neutrality will hurt the working class while simultaneously giving boatloads of cash to powerful corporations – you know, the “Swamp” that Trump wanted to drain.

Make no mistake, there’s no other reason to fight net neutrality besides wanting to give corporate welfare to America’s biggest telecom companies. But that’s the Republican way, right – help out the rich and the elite while screwing the average American.

Just look at the companies that want to overturn net neutrality, such as IBM, Cisco, Verizon, Nokia, and AT&T. These large corporations give large political donations to Republicans, and now they want their backs scratched in return.

But then again, that’s how corruption works in Trump’s America. If you do Trump a big favor, he’ll make sure that you get repaid on the basis of pure loyalty – because tyrants sure love their loyalty.

And there’s also a huge conflict of interest at work here, as well. Pai used to be a lawyer for Verizon, so now he’s going to try and give them the presidential hook-up by abolishing net neutrality once and for all.

America should be a society of freedom and equality. Shame on Trump for wanting to fracture the internet just so his rich friends can make bigger bucks than ever before.

The opposition to net neutrality must be stopped. But it’s certainly going to be an uphill battle for all of us with Pai heading up the FCC.

Trump wants to break your internet, so share this story on Facebook while you still can. Let’s stand up together and demand an open and cheap internet for all.

Remind me if you hear someone start ranting about fluoridation and bodily fluids, ok?

Give (mad dog) Mattis time. It's coming.......

Trumps already harping about vaccinations (didn't he put an anti-vaxxer in charge of looking into it?)........fluoridation will be next.

Mattis is apparently one of the saner ones in his cabinet. Certainly well-respected. It's one of the better choices. As to Kennedy on vax committee - that's the least of it, don't forget Scott Pruitt for EPA...

A guy with the nickname "Mad Dog" is the sane one.......we live in scary times.

As for the EPA, it would be funny, if it wasn't so scary. All of his cabinet picks are like Rob Ford after he won and invited Don Cherry to speak (a middle finger to his detractors), except he's appointing crazy uncles to every cabinet post instead of just one guy speaking for 20 minutes.

We really needed more years of Trudeau/Obama partnership. Now it's going to be like Harper/Obama. Not much movement/progress.

It is just a nickname which he himself has stated a dislike of. Not PC doesn't necessarily diminishes utility, and no one is asking him to be a diplomat in any case.

As to Don Cherry, he is just part of that whole hyper-masculine reaction/backlash (though I am not sure how his on-screen wardrobe qualified him for that and not Liberace.

Don't disagree, but he's got a nutjob for a boss. Waiting to see who quits first...........

He's gonna go through press secretaries faster than toilet paper. I can't comprehend trying to defend/justify this BS daily. It's like defending the earth is flat and the sun rotates around the earth - and of course, Jesus hanging out with the dinosaurs......

Maybe he can up the salary 50K on the fly upon resignations (oblique RoFo reference). As to the dinosaurs thing, let's not forget a certain leader of the opposition also believed that dinosaurs walked with people. That's fine in and on itself as a belief, but one would have to question how someone with said beliefs will handle facts.
