New TTC Special Constables

No one connected to TTC wants to see TTC Special Constable using guns as part of their equipment.

They are willing to go as far as using Teaser Guns subject to the approval of the Chief of Police and the Police Service Board. Discussion is to take place in the coming week on this matter.

New TTC Special Constable.

The Chief Constable for TTC wants to hire 21 new officers this year and a total of 102 over the next 5 years.

The system is broken down in to 5 areas and each stations in these areas will have a ranking of 1-5 for problem stations as well for the areas. The higher ranking station will see more teams of officers.

There will be teams of 2 person team patrolling the system at all time.

Due to lack of funds to hire 21 new officers at this time, a recommendation was made to hire 11 new officers now and request that the police department to supply 10 cadets officers to be train by experience TTC constable for this year subject to approval of the Chief of the Police. If this fails, then TTC will have to hire the extra 10 new constables and will have to go back to the city to get the money to this.

The current force issues close to 5,000 tickets last year that involved officers going to court.

They need to put a few on the 501 to inspect people's POP. I haven't seen an inspector on that route in years and sometimes feel like I'm the only one actually paying.

The Transit Fare Inspection Program began in August of 2014. Previous year comparisonsare unavailable. 1,324 bylaw charges were laid from August to December 2014.
