Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

A 'just for fun' Then and Now of Yonge and Dundas.

Empty nesters the wife and I were watching the 1988 shot-in-Toronto film 'Short Circuit 2' last night. Reliving something we did with the kids in those days. Our kids loved that flick.

Los Locos kick your ass,
Los Locos kick your face,
Los Locos kick your balls...
INTO OUTER SPACE!

THEN & NOW

They had actually taken the sign down just prior to the announcement of their closure. It is ironic actually because the same space was home to Eatons when it went belly up. I wonder what will go in there now as the STC is not exactly Nordstroms friendly. I can picture Simons going in there.

The Radio Shack that Johnny 5 went in to repair himself was on Kennedy road, despite what the exterior looked like. It was 1182-1184 Kennedy road. It is were iRepair and Telus are now:

Queen looking east across Spadina.

Then was '189?' according to the Toronto Archives.

The now picture is Nov 24 2017. Sorry I couldn't fit the still existing onion dome into the new picture. I didn't have a zoom lens on my camera and I couldn't safely back up anymore.

And the Now pic has even more streetcar wires. :)

In the Then picture in the right centre distance is the tower of a long gone fire station. It was located where the Clearly Optical store is located now, just west of John. Wish I could be more precise but I'm out and about replying from a smartphone.

Thanks, Mustapha, for those wonderful shots of a fine, old structure.
It's great to see it still in business almost 120 years later.

I wonder if this enhanced version of the archival photo is of any advantage to our viewers or is it just "in bad taste?"
Perhaps I'll need to apologize.

Hey, that's amazing Goldie.. Don't apologize. I used MS Photo Editor to enhance a lousy Archives picture. You must have some superior tools at hand.
