Toronto's 8th Post Office, built 1873, photograph from 1874:

It was a look that certainly was popular in a number of cities. New York City's City Hall branch Post Office, 1878 (architect A.B. Mullett; so unpopular a building, it became known as "Mullett's Monstrosity", demolished 1938):

It's been a long time since I have paid UT a visit. I have a lot of catching up to do.

Check out those cars. What the heck happened to our culture? Even the most basic vehicle in those days looked better than today's top luxury vehicles. Sometime in the mid to late 80s car design lost all grace.

Is this location recognizable today?

Heintzman Pianos building can be seen in background.

We need an identical viewpoint to complete a "Then & Now" set.

This is the house seen to the left in that old Don Brewery poster. "River Villa" was the exact mirror image of the surviving Leadlay House on Augusta just north of Queen. (image courtesy the collection of Stephen Otto)

Thank you yonderbean. Beautiful home. Imagine what it would be worth now!
I wonder if a billionaire would choose to live in an identical home today.
