I’ve truly fallen in love with the London Transport Museum’s: Hidden London Hangouts series on YouTube. Today I want to showcase Angel station.

It truly is a fascinating station… this is how it looked before as a centre platform station:

And after, with a second platform added for Northbound trains:

This station was converted from lift/elevator-only to escalators, so you know there are closed-off passageways!! :D

Here’s a map of the original layout of the station:

Here is the condition of the roughly thirty-year abandonded lift/elevator corridors now:

For anyone who appreciates this series as well, please comment!

^ Could you rename this thread: ”Hidden World Hangouts”? I’d love to hear from everyone about the quirks in their public transport systems.

Edit: Thank you!!!

Adding to my original post…

This (only) wooden, abandoned escalator at Alperton station is just beautiful:

These skylights (by Charles Holden) really are reminiscent of the lighting at Dupont:

I also get serious Keele station ”travelator” vibes:

A fairly long list:

The former Second Cup in the plaza on the SE corner of Steeles East and Laureleaf is being converted to a Tim Hortons. This hidden gem was uncovered when signage was removed... a neon Kenny Rogers Roasters sign (it would’ve glowed red):

Great videos about the Pittsburgh LRT…

First the diversionary-only now Brown Line/52 (closed 2011):

Then, rare mileage on the spur to Penn Station/42S (served regularly until 2007):

I particularly miss the 47D ”Drake” PCC-operated branch (closed 1999)…

South Hills Junction is an awesome place!

Then there’s this video of private bus services operating between various Chinatowns in NYC/Jersey:

Thanks @ClassyWhale on YouTube!!
