Making a new thread on various GO construction project and keep the other for service only.

First off, track 2 for the Georgetown line from south of Dupont to North of St Clair has been removed. Only the Diamond's remains as well crossing Old Weston Rd. A switch has been cut into track 1 north of St Clair to connect to track 2.

A new bridge for track 4 for the Georgetown line has been installed over Dupont. Provision for a new track 1 bridge is there, but not the bridge.

Track 1 for the Galt line on the curb is gone at the junction.

Have not seen any major work for the Dufferin Jog bridges at this time.

    Aldershot
A Gateway stand has been added to the Aldershot station.

The Aldershot Cold Storage building is gone and not sure if this area or near the station that will become a fuel refueling area for GO as one is plan for this area.

    Lakeshore E
It was nice to see the 3rd track in use for the east end on Tuesday.

    Snider bridge
I can tell you 100% that the Snider bridge will support 2 tracks. From the looks of things on the day I saw it, rail was sitting there to be place on the Steeles bridge to connect to the current York station. A new switch will have to be installed to connect to the Snider line as well cut over to track 1.

    Bathurst Yard
Steaks markings can be seen at the fly under at Bathurst Yard where a new retaining wall is going to be built so the 3rd track can be added. The work on the extension to Bathurst yard is taking fore every.

GO is putting up a stink about the bridge that is supposed to go over the whole corridor to connect City Place to Portland Ave to the point it's driving the price sky high as well making hard to do. It a poor design in the first place and was been pickup by City Place. With all these issues, maybe GO will have to kick in some money.

    Brampton
The stairs to the new west end tunnel is in place for the south platform with work taking place on the north platform.

Caissons with anchors have been place along the north side as if they will be used for a sound barrier wall or support the new platform. Work is underway at the existing tunnel on the south side.

    Clarkson
The north end of the east end tunnel is close and been rebuilt. Riders have to use the rebuilt stairs to the north platform to get to/from each side.

The new entrance to the new tunnel to the west is almost complete with work still taking place on the tunnel it self. New steel work for waiting areas have been installed for the north side.

The building of the retaining walls for the new 3rd track going east toward Clarkson Rd is a snail pace.

It's been in use since last fall, on and off. What would be nice is new services!

On that subject I received an e-mail from GO a few weeks ago saying "A third track has been built on CN’s Lakeshore East Corridor and the section of track on Lakeshore West, which influences throughput of trains from east and west, is currently under construction. Once completed, we will be developing revised schedules for both the Lakeshore East and West to take advantage of the new track capacity to address service gaps and overloads. A complete review of the Lakeshore service will occur in 2010, which will lead to even more train service."

The track south of Dupont to North of St Clair parallel to Lansdowne is not the Georgetown line; it runs east of Dundas north and turns west. The track that has been removed is Go but serves due north (Newmarketish). And this Diamond track is to be raised over the east west tracks north of Dupont.

As for "A new bridge for track 4 for the Georgetown line has been installed over Dupont. Provision for a new track 1 bridge is there, but not the bridge."

The only bridge work being done (pile driving uproar) in the Junction/Dupont area is refurbishing of the single track bridge where the abandoned east most track used to run, for the TO West railPath Bicycle Trail/Linear Park. The adjacent construction work is about drainage, and will involve MetroLinx plans for future tracks.

The line to Newmarket only has a single track from Dupont to St Clair so he can't possibly be talking about that one. He is talking about the Georgetown line. The Davenport Diamond discussion is a different thread.

Thanks for the pics. Anything more up to date than the GO TRIP website and Google/Live maps is always appreciated. It is great to see so much transit construction going on at once. Next year construction will be insane.

That picture off the Wallace pedestrian bridge came out very clear. What kind of lens do you have? Tripod?

aren't those metal tubes they hammered into the ground supposed to interlock with each other?

Standard Canon 8 mg 720is with no tripod.

That extra distance shot would be even better.

At times I get some great shot with this camera, but soooo humm!! rest of the time. 2 repairs within 2 months and looks like replacement time. Then I mess up a few by not checking them in the first place.

The next 5 years are going to see even more projects than now.

They were supposed to interlock with a large pipe and a T shape on one side and a C shape on the other. Perhaps they are interlocking below the surface... the seem to be spaced out the right distance to have the interlock in between.

i think you're right. from drum's video, some of the tubes are visible and appear to have the locking channel start just below the top of the tube. i guess they could be made that way to fit the pile driver.

p.s, they should auction the diamond tracks on ebay!

Sounds like the piles will take until fall to finish which is when they will start excavating and building a bridge they will slide into place.
