Why did they have to put this otherwise relatively good building on a goofy pedestal? This city's slavish deference to / insistence on tower-on-podium architecture is beyond tiresome.

The podium might as well be our vernacular. For the most part, we do it well. This one doesn't improve the tower's presence on the street, but it blends it into the city's evolving urban fabric.

At City Council yesterday they voted to attend an OMB hearing (date still to be set) in support of a revised plan at 14 storeys (one less) which brings the building in line with planning concerns… as long as a few more relatively minor concerns are attended to.

The result is that the building can go ahead at 14 storeys and 48.25 metres high. Still no sign of it on UrbanCapital's website.
