Furniture Shopping -- The Good and The Bad

Talking about furniture shopping....does anyone know any place to buy some funky...vintage...unique floor lamps?

If you're looking for something more on the Victorian side of lamps (new remakes and old restorations), there is a guy just south of King East just around the corner from either Trianon or Starbucks on Frederick or Sherbourne that has some really out there but cool stuff.

Trianon itself is creepy. They have lamps covered in feathers for people with money and no taste.

I'd recommend Post & Beam on Dundas in the Junction west of Keele. There's also a killer vintage shop on Queen East in Leslieville called Hardware which is DEFINITELY worth visiting.

Incidentally, you'll no doubt run into that Design Lines magazine at some of these stores. They're free to take and really handy. That's how I learned about Hardware in Leslieville (which is not listed on the website, strangely -- be sure to visit if you're in the market for anything vintagey).

Hello all,

I'm wondering if anyone can share their experiences, opinions with Decorium furniture. I was thinking about getting the storage bed there but I find the price really high.

The reviews from what can I look up on the internet ain't so rosy:

I have purchased a few items from Decorium, in particular a bedroom set (years ago) and within the last year a condo sized sofa. I can't say I have ever had a problem with them. I find the pricing pretty decent as well.

I tend to not make my decision based on other people's experiences. I find that there are people out there that cannot be satisfied regardless. Decorium has many manufacturers, so the delivery times are up in the air (which is the case for most furniture stores). Sure, most places give you a time frame (say 3-6 weeks), but I have learned that it never ends up being 3 weeks and usually ends up being 6 weeks.
