Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s

Metrolinx we give up. They might as well just name the stations after the colors of the rainbow seeing as that's how their naming convention works.

I'll be surprised by the end of this if Kennedy, Laird, Leaside, Bichmount, and Pharmacy actually retain their names as they are right now. Maybe Kennedy will be renamed to Rouge Park, and Laird will be renamed to Industrial Park/Big-Box.

We haven't seen nothing yet. A recent document called "Line 5 Eglinton Station Names" provides a preview of what's in store for the Sheppard and Finch LRTs. Read it and weep.

I honestly didn't think it could get worse than the naming of "Pioneer Village" and "Vaughan Metropolitan Centre". It's just gotten much, much worse. The working names were much, much better.

This is just a disaster in my opinion.

Ah, to be in New York City! See link.

For example. There are six 23rd stations. Five in Manhatten and one in Queens.

Worse, some lines in New York City and the same named stations on the same line.

So the deadline for Metrolinx to announce station names is January 20, 2016.

Doesn't leave much room for formal opposition to the station naming.

Can someone start a petition? Get thousands of signatures going or something?

The names chosen for Keele, Bayview, Leslie, Ferrand, Bermondsey and Victoria Park all sound wrong to me. Anyone else agree?

Assuming Metrolinx is correct, the tunneling schedule has been significantly accelerated. The west tunnel was scheduled for completion in Janurary 2017 and East in November 2017. So this would be an increase of at least 1 month and 11 months respectively.

Here's a link to the update (page 5): http://www.metrolinx.com/en/docs/pd...51203_BoardMtg_Capital_Projects_Update_EN.pdf

"Tunneling on Eglinton will be complete in late 2016"
