I thought these buildings were going to start construction quite soon due to coordinating them with the bus terminal, is that right? When is expected completion?

Awaiting permits I guess. Think Metrolinx's terminal is expected to open sometime in 2017. The tower maybe 18 months later if tenants are signed. Will get capped otherwise. Ivanhoe is still probably sore from their spec built debacle in Calgary roughly 6 years ago

Even a deck on a downtown highrise can't do without that overgrown field "landscaping" nowadays.

To be fair they are going above and beyond by decking over the railway - though I am not sold on the bucolic design - something more formal would have suited the wholly artificial nature of the space better (and being a lot more "honest" about it)

For those of you who forget what the bus station is like. I'll be happy when this one is replaced.

This station is an eyesore and a disgrace to the city. But I thought there was no agreement on the coach operators moving to the new Metrolinx terminal? This is what Metrolinx is supposed to be doing. They should have made sure to negotiate and help relocate the coach buses there. So much for regional thinking.

The thinking is that they can only spend so much on a new bus terminal, (and only build it so high before it imposes itself on the 18 Yonge condo next door), that they'll end up with a 14-bay terminal here. By the time it opens in a few years, GO expects it may need all 14 bays. Give it another several years when GO RER is in place with two-way all-day service on all or most lines, far fewer bays will be needed for GO buses. That's when the intercity coaches can move down to the new terminal.
