Greenpark now has the proverbial maple leaf beside their name now. I find that so stupid that companies do that. What's the point? Especially for builders, which tend to be Canadian anyways.

7 June 2014: After staring at acres of "window wall of shame" today I was surprised to realize Allure is rather refreshing. Sure, its got cheesy unnecessary frills and that "fake" brick/colour is well ... ugh, but as those hipsters in Berlin are showing us, old style meets modernism can be downright awesome. Some GTA developers are so behind the curve on design that they're almost getting back into tune with those screwball Europeans lol. The problem here is that this "style" doesn't suit the neighbourhood--it's clearly parts bin crap picked off a shelf and plonked down in the wrong context--around Yonge and Dundas, yes this sort of thing might fit in. Here the only thing that works is the rounded corner:

Translation: strip it down to its bare concept, add some modern bling and get aA/Teeple/S+P/Core/etc to do the magic.

@UD: Since you reference Berlin, where I am living right now, I would love to see some examples of what you like here. I have seen a lot of really nice new architecture (Berlin is getting a lot of development, much of it very nice - though some not so much surprisingly), but I am not sure what you mean by "old meets new" in this context. Obviously this building has a suburban mcmansion feel in its faux historicism; pointing the way to a more nuanced approach would be much appreciated (as I will go check it out!).

I honestly find the back of this project (i.e. what fronts the subway line) much more attractive.

My main beef is the lack of details in the finishings, little white boxes ? Why not add some texture there ? Same goes for the precast. Also back window frames would have provided more context
