Thanks for the tip, Investican.

Great Lands' portfolio doesn't exactly inspire confidence but nice to see another suburban builder gain interest in developing downtown. Architecture initiatives as they enter the downtown market from suburban companies do seem to be gradually rising though in recent years. Hopefully they will step up their game and provide us with a quality design. I also hope those townhouses on Widmer can be preserved/incorporated. They've lost their Victorian charm but can look nice if restored. It may also offer us some retail space opportunities for more restaurants/cafes.

It would also complete the streetscape from Adelaide/John/King/Peter. Another (potential) 50 storey proposal for that lot would be unreal. That's approx. 2500 units in these two city blocks. Pretty intense, I haven't seen such residential density since Hong Kong.

I would like to see a condo be built in the Entertainment District that retains the club space it's being built on. What entertainment will there be in this district? Marshall's? More Shopper's Drug Mart's? We're losing unique businesses to box stores. Why would anyone who lives in downtown Toronto want to shop at a Costco!? The Entertainment District is going to be about as attractive to tourist from out of city and the burbs as the Bay St Canyon is. Subway sandwich shops and Second Cup.

We may end up with more "supper clubs" as we are seeing on King West and Liberty village. Restaurants which turn into nightclubs after 10pm. I would love to see a few big nightclubs remain, but the supper club / lounge concept is better than a Rabba, Dry cleaner, and starbucks on every corner.

All the current tenants of 77 Peter are moving out in July. Could this mean 77 is going to bite the dust too?

Jared Menkes mentions launching a "sexy tower and great design" in the District in the next couple months.

From bbh Blog article, via Southcore: http://blog.bared-menkes-interview.html

Fabrik is our newest project, but after that we’re going to have another one in the next couple months in the Entertainment District. It’s going to be quite a sexy tower and a great design. After that we have a much-talked about Harbour Street development right across from the Air Canada Centre. Stay tuned for that!

Lol. Who the came up with this corny lady gaga-themed ad campaign? The ED is going to be full of DBs if indeed this speaks to the target market

Developers have gone from selling apartments to lifestyles. Now some are selling coat-of-armsy pseudo-royalty cheesiness.

Just put up a nice looking building with decent units. We'll all forget the lame shmarketing and condoporn soon enough.

Great ad. If you've ever taken a Media 101 course; the ad says, single, stylish, independent, sexy, never have children, expensive pet owner, woman.

That is the most ridiculous ad I've seen in my life. Utterly laughable. But I am looking forward to the design of the tower, with a name like that. :)
